Day 10 - Praying for Wisdom

DAY 10 - PRAYING FOR WISDOM

wisdom

Holy Father,

The first step in obtaining wisdom is to fear You; so we ask that our hearts and minds would have a holy reverence for who You are.  (Proverbs  9:10 / Proverbs 1:7)  Help us to remember that though You call us to be Your child and Your friend, You are also our Master who sits enthroned in the heavens, and You have set certain ways for us to live.  May we remember that the blessings and curses in our lives come as a direct result of whether or not, in wisdom, we choose to obey Your ways.  (Deuteronomy 28:1-14 / Deuteronomy 28:15-68)

We ask for the mind of Christ so that through His wisdom permeating through us, we may learn to avoid making destructive and harmful choices.  (1 Corinthians 2:13)  Grant us wisdom that does not merely listen to Your words, but wisdom that learns to actually apply these truths.  (James 1:22-25)  Keep us from being fools who continue to make the same mistakes over and over.  (Proverbs  26:11)

Open our eyes to when we are being enticed into foolish decisions.  May we see the truth of foolishness, that though it looks delectable in the beginning, it always ends in destruction.  (Proverbs 5:1-14)  May we remember that Your wisdom will often seem to contradict the wisdom of the world; but may we trust in Your ways over man’s.  (1 Corinthians 1:25)

May we be confident that when we are in need of wisdom, all we must do is simply ask You; for You give wisdom freely to those who ask and who believe.  (James 1:5-8)  If we call to You, You will answer us and tell us great and unsearchable things we do not know.  (Jeremiah 33:3)  Whether we are in need of wisdom for routine daily decisions or for more supernatural understanding, may we have faith that You know all things.  Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of You!  (Romans 11:33-36)

Help us to establish times to regularly read the book of Proverbs since it was written to help us attain wisdom and discipline, to help us do what is right and just and fair.  (Proverbs 1:1-9)  No matter what the cost to us, may we search for godly wisdom and treasure it above all worldly possessions.  When we find it, help us to lay hold of it.  (Proverbs 4:5-9)
